Fish Fries

Friday night fish fries take place in the Catholic community from Ash Wednesday until Easter.

Our trusty volunteers, Larry and Pete, have been tasting all around town and recommend St. Cletus on Zumbehl (near the intersection of Droste and Zumbehl by St. Charles West high school) as the best meal for your dollar (seven dollars - lots of food!).

S.A.S. is heading to St. Charles Borromeo on Fifth Street this Friday evening (March 23). Directions/details are on the calendar and below is the menu (thank you Larry). You need to bring CASH: $9.50

Have you ever tried potato printing?! The potato is a major part of Irish history and is still a popular Irish food. It also makes a nice bulky stamping grip, easier for some to handle than something dainty. Here's what you do.

Supplies needed: potato, paint, sharp knife, pen or pencil, saucer, paper or other material to stamp on

Directions: Slice the potato in half. On the exposed side of the potato draw a shape you would like to stamp. (I attempted a shamrock) Use the knife to cut out around the shape, making the shape raised. Put some paint in a saucer or paper plate. Dip your potato stamp in the paint and blot the excess on some throwaway paper, otherwise it will be slippery, and then stamp away. Have fun!

Movie Review

"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" is now playing in theatres. Starring The Rock, this movie is rated PG and runs for 1hr34min.

This Movie Review is brought to you by Janet H.:
We went to St. Charles Cinema close to Friedens United Church of Christ and Fazolis. It was about animals walking around in a field. It was kind of funny. I give it six stars!
