We
love your participation in S.A.S. activities but maybe you are looking for some different things to do with the people you support/on your own time? I made this list with
Fall in mind.
1. Make a natural centerpiece. Visit the craft or thrift store for a small to medium basket and a piece of fabric or felt to line it with. You might also purchase artificial small pumpkins or gourds. All you need next is a pretty day - head outside and gather pinecones, various color leaves, and acorns. Neatly arrange it all in the basket and place in the center of your table.
2. Rake the leaves in your yard into piles and bag them up. This is great exercise and can even be done from a wheelchair. Prepare for winter by moving in your summer items and make sure you have a snow shovel and ice-melt.
3. Try a soup or chili recipe. Work as a team to prepare it. For example, one person could dump the can of beans into the pot and another person could rinse the can out and put it in the recycling bin. An easy chili recipe to follow can be found on the back of the chili seasoning packet.
4. Clean out your short-sleeve shirts and shorts, bagging up what you don't need or want anymore and delivering it to a local thrift store. Find your winter-wear and decide what needs replacing (gloves,
socks, so forth).
5. Visit Santas from around the world. Friday November 23rd is Opening Day for the Christmas Traditions activities on Main Street in St. Charles. Click
here for more details.
6. Make a date. Contact an old friend or seek out a new one - invite him or her to meet you for a cup of coffee at a local coffehouse or even McDonalds. Can't think of anyone to ask? Call Patty Yarrow and register for the Nov. 20th Dinner Date Night and I will pair you with some nice people. I almost got through the list without plugging S.A.S.; just couldn't stop myself!
