Holli and Val

We had very special visitors last weekend - two Alpacas named Holli and Val and their caretakers Bill and Michelle. They brought smiles to everyone! Learn more about Holli at Hollys-hope.com (click right on it).

Holli meets animal lover Joyce S.

Holli's caretaker Michelle shows us teddy bears made from Alpaca fur. She patiently answered our many many questions!

Val and Holli

Val shares a hug with Stacy L.

Terri W. and Val - notice Val is in a lot of these pictures because Holli was quite busy munching on Emmaus' clover!

Holli walking from Bruere to Luhr. Isn't she cute?!

The Mighty Mississippi

One hour cruises on the river are available every day at the Gateway Arch.

Call 1-877-982-1410 for more information.

The river was about 24ft higher than normal....all the way up to the sidewalk!

Next time you see me with a camera make sure I have the date set right. It was Saturday June 4th. Important lesson we learned: If you can't get to this dock from the Landing because of high water, take S. Broadway to Chouteau and you can pull right up to drop off passengers and ask for a handicap sticker to even park right here.

Ahhh, Air Conditioning! Stacee, Tonya, Millie L. and Terri W. are cruising down the Mississippi.

It's A Beautiful Day

Do you ever find yourself saying, "It's a beautiful day....what should we do?!?"
How About.....

A Walk In the Park - there are many walking trails in St. Charles Parks (click to visit the link) - a S.A.S. favorite is the trail at McNair Park 3050 Droste Road. It is on the right hand side of the park shortly after the entrance. You will find this trail easy to access, beautifully landscaped, well shaded and not too long. Or click here to find a St. Louis County park.

Putt Putt Golf - Cave Springs Golf Center is one place to play at 3650 West Clay (the north side of 70) and is open from 8am until 9:30pm every day of the week. $4 per game. Eileen B. is pictured playing at Cave Springs Golf Center last summer
Fly A Kite - kites are inexpensive and available at most common retailers, another fun thing to wave in the wind is a party streamer (also inexpensive)

A Bit O' Yardwork - plant, water and weed; wash the windows; sweep the porch...there is always a fun chore to do outside and if you are looking for more contact Patty Y. and ask about getting involved in the community garden on the Emmaus campus

A Picnic Lunch - pack it up and visit the park or simply move out onto the porch and share your crumbs with the birds!

Check the Calendar - see what is happening in STEPS by looking at the SAS calendar (always on the bottom of the blog if you can't find your paper copy). Registration is important but if supplies aren't involved we usually won't turn you away! Join us this Saturday afternoon May 14th and brush up on some outdoor games to be enjoyed on beautiful days.
