Walking Club cancelled for 3/16

Walking Club at McNair Park is Cancelled for today, Sunday March 16th.  I would like to say let's meet at the mall to walk instead but I am concerned about parking lots and sidewalks becoming slippery with the predicted snow.

We will meet next Sunday, March 23rd, at St. Peters City Hall to walk the adjacent park at 1pm.
Everyone is welcome to join in whether you have gotten started yet or not!

If you received a pedometer last week and kept track of your steps on walks please email your totals to Angela Curtis, curtisa@emmaushomes.org (don't include last Sunday when we walked together, I have those numbers).

St. Patrick's Day Fun

St. Patrick's Day is approaching on March 17th; it is a day to celebrate Irish culture and many people will wear something green and enjoy Irish food and drink.  In St. Louis there is even a parade!
Here are some fun green things you might enjoy doing or supporting someone to do:
Green Fruit Dip
Mix together equal parts cream cheese and marshmallow cream.  Add some green food color and blend.  Dip apples or other fresh fruit.
Green Sensory Bag
Pour some light corn syrup into a Ziplock bag.  Add equal drops of blue and yellow food color and seal tightly.  Let the person it is for swirl it together and watch the liquid turn to green.
Green Collage
Use grocery flyers or magazines to cut out pictures of green fruits and vegetables and glue them all to a poster or piece of paper for a green collage.

Walking Challenge!

This Sunday March 9th is the kickoff for an exciting five week Walking Challenge.  Participants will receive their very own pedometer and water bottle as we set off to improve our health and have fun meeting a goal.  We will walk (or roll) on Sunday afternoons for five weeks and see just how far we get by using our pedometers to count our steps.  At the end of the challenge, in April, we will celebrate!
To get started meet in the Activity Center on Sunday March 9th at 1pm.

Winter Dance Photo Slideshow

Matthias Lot church graciously provided the space for our Winter Dance while an amazing group of volunteers called We Love St. Charles took care of the setup, danced with us, and did tear down (turning a sanctuary into a dance hall is no easy job - Bless them!).  This is our 'formal' dance of the year and everyone looked FABULOUS.
