Happy Valentine's Day - Treats!

S.A.S. is getting into the spirit of Valentine's Day with crafts, games and a party. Check the calendar at the bottom of the blog!

For a simple Valentine treat simply blend frozen strawberries (partly defrosted) and milk in the blender and enjoy a strawberry milkshake! Use fresh strawberries when they are in season.

For a little more involved project, try your hand at these Valentine-shaped pretzels we created Sunday afternoon:

Ingredients are 2 packages dry yeast, 1 1/2 cups warm water, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 4 cups flour, 1 beaten egg, and coarse salt.

Mix all the ingredients together, except the coarse salt. Knead the mixture until it's rubbery, like dough. Pull off small pieces and roll into different lengths. On a cookie sheet, twist the lengths of dough into heart shapes. Coat your shapes with the beaten egg, then sprinkle on coarse salt. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. *Recipe found on Cooks.com.

Here's Stacy L. rolling the dough.

Finished product - yumm!

A special "Thank You" to Ariana, Logan and Christopher who volunteered with us this day and helped with many tasks.
