Getting Around the St. Charles Area

Sure there's a Walgreens on every other corner but if you are new to the St. Charles/St. Peters area here are some other places you might be looking for.....
PARKS
In St. Charles my favorite parks to walk are Frontier Park (take 5th street to First Capitol towards the riverfront and you'll bump into it) and McNair has a nice trail (take First Capitol to West Clay to Droste Rd and the park is on the right).   Click here for St. Charles Parks (on a sidenote-the Parks Dept offers short travel excursions).  In St. Peters the park next to the City Hall on Mexico Rd (between Spencer and Jungermann) is nice for walking.  Click here to find more St. Peters parks.
MALLS
Mid Rivers Mall is in St. Peters at Hwy 70 and Mid Rivers Mall Dr.  In Hazelwood at 370 and St. Louis Mills Blvd  is the St. Louis Mills - great mall to walk because it is a big circle.  Within the Mills, "Cabellas" features a large aquarium, animal display and small museum.  Both malls have movie theatres.

BOWLING
Cave Springs Lanes on Mexico Rd. just west of Cave Springs/Muegge is the only wheelchair accessible one I know of in the St. Charles area.  Phone number is 636-441-1774; it is good to call in advance in case leagues are bowling/they are full.  If mobility is not a concern there is St. Charles Lanes 636-949-0311 on First Capitol next to DQ and Plaza Lanes 636-724-1350 at West Clay and Droste; in St. Peters you might be near Harvest Lanes off Hwy 94 opposite from Kohls.
GROCERIES
Everyone is working at eating healthy, right?  Stock up on some fresh fruits/veggies and all your other groceries at the local Dierbergs, Schnucks or Shop n Save (click on one to find the closest store).
THIS AND THAT
River City Rascals minor league baseball team, the season is coming to a close but here is their link anyway.  Take Hwy 70 to TRHughes Ballpark.
Senior Centers provide community lunches and other opportunities for socializing.  The St. Charles Senior Center is at 1455 Fairgrounds phone number 949-0658.  To get there from Fifth Street go west on Boonslick then left on Fairgrounds and it is on your right side.  I am not familiar with the St. Peters Senior Center but here is their link.
Libraries - even if you/the person you support is not a reader there are so many things the library can offer - books on tape, DVDs, internet access and so on.  The library closest to Emmaus' main campus is Kathryn Linnemann on Elm near IGA.  In St. Peters the largest library, newly remodeled is Spencer on Spencer Rd. inbetween Mexico Rd. and Willott.  Here is the link to St. Charles City-County Library District.
