We tried out a super-simple technique for making wreath ornaments - wrap yarn around a shower curtain ring ($1.16 for a pack of twelve at the local everything store and if you don't have any yarn on hand ask anyone of us at S.A.S. to cut you a nice length and it's all yours!). Here's a few that were willing to have their pic taken:
